Carolina Chickadee

This is the first time I’ve seen a Carolina Chickadee in my yard. Perhaps they’ve been here before and I just missed the little guys.

Carolina CIt has been raining here for several days. It looked like he was trying to dry out after a bath.Carolina C.jpg2

It’s a cute little bird, about the same size of the Tufted Titmice that hang out in this same tree. They use this as a stopping point before going to the feeder.CC3Carolina Chickadee.jpg2

The black cap and white on the sides of it’s face really stand out.  I will definitely be looking to get better shots of this one.

  2. This little guy is quite common here. And they are here in the winter too. They love to eat sunflower chips and pieces.

  6. After purusing your blog, I've decided I need to get a bird feeder outside my living room window!

Amazing amount of birds and wildlife right there in your backyard. Love your boat too...what a fun life!

  7. I just saw my first Caroline Chickadees in Ohio and West Virginia a couple of weeks ago. They look much the same as the black-capped but their song and call is different. Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog!

  8. Nice photos! It's fun to see something new in your backyard. Chickadees are one of my favorite birds. They are interesting to watch and are very friendly. Here in Alaska we get the Black-capped, which is the northern version of the Carolina Chickadee, not really much different. What I like best about them is they stick around here all winter. Any bird that can handle 50 below temps gets an A++ rating in my book.

  9. I love Chickadees- I'm glad you got to see them. They hang around here in Alabama all winter- so it is one of the birds that is a regular visitor to the feeder. I think that they look quite dapper!
