While checking the updates on the blogs that I follow, I saw a picture of a bird that looked familiar. www.askthebirds.org had a photo of a Rusty Blackbird.
I had a bird come to my feeders last winter and spring, that I could not identify.
After looking at the Rusty Blackbird, I am hoping I have found it.
It came in with all the Indigo and Painted Buntings, the Cardinals, Catbirds etc. But it was the only one like it.
I think you probably are looking at a female Red-winged Blackbird. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteI do not believe that is a Rusty Blackbird, but I am not sure. To me it looks like a female Red-winged blackbird, but I could be wrong

ReplyDeleteThanks for the help...I am happy with a female Redwing Blackbird. We see very few of those at the house. I did see 1 last year. I think I am too far back in the woods with no pond for them to come often.
ReplyDeleteCarol
Whatever it is Carol, it's a lovely looking bird.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not a Rusty, but is a female Red-wing
ReplyDeleteSorry it is a Red-wing. However, I am inclined to go with Juvie male.
