4.15.10 Painted Bunting & Catbird

One of my male Painted Buntings. This one has a lime-green patch on it’s back. There is one that has orange.

I hope to bore you with many many more.

While waiting for the Painted Bunting to return…..this Catbird came in …waiting for me to leave so it could get to the birdbath.

He thinks I cant see him. It’s such a beautiful bird.

One of the nice things about taking pictures of the different birds…you get a chance to see how really beautiful they are.

  1. You can bring on the painted buntings by the bushel as far as I am concerned!
I am even glad to see the catbird, they won't show up in my garden for a while yet! We are just beginning to see our favorite spring migrants arrive back.

  7. Beautiful pictures. I was telling Hubby over the weekend that I haven't see our couple of catbirds that arrive each spring. The stray cats around here may have done them in last year. There are several around here. Helen

  9. I'd love to see a Painted Bunting. Don't have them here. We do get the Gray Catbirds however. They love to eat half oranges that I hang in the Lilac bushes.

  11. The bunting is So colorful, like a parrot. Isn't the catbird the one that leaves its eggs in somebody elses nest?
Because birds are so flighty, ;-), it is nice to take photos so you can really look at them awhile. Nice shots.
