We had a new visitor to the back yard. I believe it is a Barred Owl.
We were enjoying our early morning coffee in the screen room when it swooped in and landed.
This is the tree in the backyard by the bird feeders. We had to cut the top out of it last year because it is hollow near the bottom and within falling distance of the house.
The cats sometimes climb up and sit there.
A beautiful bird. Blends in well with the tree and branches.
It didn’t take long for the cats to disappear…..so perhaps it’s been here before.
Indeed it is a barred owl. Have you heard it calling? Lately I have been listening to the screech owls here in Virginia.
ReplyDeleteYes...we do hear them, but sometimes we hear others. Thanks for stopping. Had a beautiful Black Racer in my wood pile today...I was so fascinated with it I forgot to get my camera...after research on the web I am pretty sure it was a "racer".
DeleteWhat a nice bird to stop by your place. I rarely see them in central Florida. Maybe they were looking to make a meal out of that racer.
ReplyDeleteExciting to have the owl land where you could see it so well and a perfect landing spot for the owl. Wise kitties to disappear!
ReplyDeleteGood looking bird
