Hummingbird
Evidently my camera or my reflexes are too slow to get good pictures of a Hummingbird….but the video is able to capture it.
I havn’t seen this one lately….just a couple of juveniles or females.
Ruth...you are very observant...it only drinks from the seepage around the base of the flower. It's the only one I've seen do that. When we went on the boat for a few weeks, I took the feeder down. My friend, Debbie, called one morning and told me she had my Hummingbird at her feeder. So it must check both places.
Great video! The closest we have to this over here are the Sunbirds. Though the too can hover, their wing beat comes nowhere near this one's,which looks as if motor driven. Amazing!
Hi Carol, I always enjoy catching up on your blog.... We have quite a few hummingbirds here --and I have 3 feeders... But--like you, I have trouble getting a good picture of them... Guess I need to do a video....
Stunning, I have just watched a programme on Humming Birds, I did not realise the distance these tiny birds migrate, 10,000km!!
ReplyDeleteNice work.Looks like he was not drinking from the actual 'flower',but somewhere besides it.

ReplyDeleteYou are so right about these being hard to photograph!!! I got a couple of fair shots today and I may post them one day soon. Nice video!
ReplyDeleteLovely footage Carol. Those wings certainly beat fast.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing your hummer video since we don't get the them this far north. I do miss getting to see them flit around.
